Jeff Carpenter currently serves as the Boeing Commercial Airplane Supply Chain Category Management & Contracts Director for Material and Standards. In this role he is responsible for both the contracting/sourcing and the category management functions for raw material and standards. Previously Carpenter was Category Leader for Materials and Standards for the Boeing Enterprise. In this role, he was responsible for creating and deploying Category Management strategies for Materials and Standards across the Boeing Enterprise. With his move to Boeing Commercial Airplanes Supply Chain, he retains the Enterprise function as well.
During his time at Boeing, Carpenter has held several leadership roles in Supply Chain and on the 787 program. He was Director, Supplier Management, responsible for the Italian supply chain, which produced major structural assemblies for Boeing Commercial Airplane programs. Prior to that position, Carpenter led Raw Material & Fastener Procurement and Distribution for all commercial airplane programs. He oversaw cost reduction efforts on the 787, working with engineering to create and implement cost down projects, enabling them to be incorporated on the airplane. In prior roles he has been involved in Supply Chain management for nearly everything that flies on commercial airplanes.
Carpenter joined Boeing in 1998 as a procurement agent in the company’s Supplier Management division, following a college internship in 1997. He has held a variety of supply chain assignments across the company since then.
Carpenter received a bachelor’s of science degree in Finance and a certificate in Purchasing Management from Central Washington University.
